David Barenborg has over 35 years of experience in global financial markets with specific expertise in hedge funds and alternative investment strategies.

Before launching Erigo, David was a Managing Director with BlackRock Alternative Advisors (BAA) where he was Director of Research and Head of the Absolute Return Strategies Manager Research Group for the firm’s Hedge Fund Solutions team with $25bn in assets under management. At BAA, he was member of the Investment Committee and Management Committee; he served as Portfolio Manager for large separate account mandates; and he was Head of Co-Investment strategies with $2bn in long-term commitments alongside hedge funds and private equity GPs that ranged across assets classes, capital structures and the liquidity continuum. Before BlackRock, Mr. Barenborg was a Principal and Director of Research at Quellos Group (acquired by BlackRock in 2007).

He started his financial career as a fixed income specialist at Salomon Brothers and Lehman Brothers in New York before becoming Managing Director and Co-Head of European Fixed Income Sales for Deutsche Bank in London.

He holds a BA cum laude in Economics with a concentration in Russian studies from Middlebury College and an Advanced Finance Program from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
